Community is one of our core values here at So Chic Salon brands, and we always ensure that we fulfill this year-round by partnering with organizations and helping those in need. This season, we decided to switch things up and have each of our Salon locations select an organization that truly means a lot to them. Whether it be a supplies drive or working in-person to give back, we are so proud of what our team has been able to accomplish for our Community. Starting with our Atlanta and Smyrna locations, they have selected Wellspring Living to give back to. “Wellspring Living is a nonprofit organization in Atlanta that provides domestic sex trafficking victims and those at risk with specialized recovery services through residential and community-based programs. The programs provide transformative care through therapeutic services, education, life skills, and personal and professional development.“ - Wellspring web. At both locations, we've created a drive to drop off supplies to give back to this organization and help these individuals in need. We've been asking for these items: Blankets, unscented feminine hygiene products, Kroger gift cards, coats, and much more! Our Alpharetta location has chosen to help the Furbabies at Furkids. This nonprofit is one of the largest no-kill, cage-free pet sanctuaries that provides cats and dogs with medical care and helps them find their forever homes. Since it opened in 2002, Furkids has rescued more than 55,000 animals. We are doing a supplies drive to give back before Christmas. Some of these items we’re gathering are Quality dog treats, i.e., Zukes or smaller meaty treats made in the USA, Pill Pockets (canine and feline), Interactive dog toys like Kong & Nylabone products, Fancy Feast kitten wet food (chicken or turkey), Trash bags and much more. W.Daly Salon Spa, our sister company in Newnan and Peachtree City, has partnered with Backpack Buddies. They have been working with this nonprofit for some time now, and they continue to impact the community. "Backpack Buddies is a 501c3 nonprofit organization created to supply economically disadvantaged children in the Coweta County School System with food for the weekend." - Backpack Buddies, web. This incredible organization currently serves 1,150+ children in 33 schools and hopes to do even more. While our team has decided to volunteer their time to pack these meals with the organization, we are still always looking for more ways to help out in any way we can! Check out the link above to see how you can get involved in Backpack Buddies this season. Our Marietta Salon has been selected to partner with Lost-N-Found Youth. This amazing organization is an Atlanta-based nonprofit to end homelessness for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer (LGBTQ+), and all sexual minority youth. While we are in the works of doing an in-person volunteer day after the Holidays, we are also doing a supplies drive in-salon currently! We are looking for new, lightly used seasonal clothing to bring to their thrift store. The Lost-N-Found thrift store gathers funds for the organization and allows those in the program to go and select clothing in their sizes. Last but not least, our Roswell location! Our Roswell team wanted to do an in-person volunteer opportunity to give back to children with Autism in the community. Hopebridge was the perfect way for our team to use their skills to give back. Due to sensory overload, children on the spectrum often have a tough time visiting the salon. We wanted to eliminate that stress and visit the center ourselves! Our team will be offering free haircuts to these children at the center. We are excited to help ease some of these parents' stress. Each of these organizations means so much to our entire team here at So Chic, and while this is our mission this holiday season, we will continue to work with these organizations after the holidays as well! New stylist on the block and she rocks! Brooke Smith (@brookeleannehair) is our newest stylist at W.Daly, and we are so excited to have her join our team! Brooke, originally from sunny Los Angeles, California, has recently transplanted herself to our lovely state of Georgia. Brooke has been doing hair professionally for 5 years but she has always had a passion for hair. She has trained under some of the very best in the industry and takes pride in what she does. “What we do isn’t just about hair itself but about helping people feel great about themselves. Although, I am a firm believer that beauty comes from within, taking care of oneself on the outside is just as important! I want anyone who sits in my chair to feel completely taken care of from start to finish. If you're happy I’m happy!” Whether you have long hair or short hair, want your greys blended or a bright vivid color, Brooke is up for the task! We are so thrilled to welcome Madalene back to our Newnan location! This ray of sunshine adds so much to our team and we wanted to share a bit about her with you to get to know her better! Madalene didn’t always know that her passion was in hair. Originally, she attended college to be a teacher. While she was pursuing that route, she began working at a hair salon in Buford as Front Desk. During her time there, she would find herself wanting to be back with the Stylists, doing hair. The moment she decided to take the leap as the Salon Owner’s apprentice, she absolutely fell in love with the field and hasn't looked back. When she was younger, she was a client at our sister location, Bob Steele Salon, and was immediately drawn to the atmosphere. When she moved to Atlanta, she applied to join the So Chic Salon Brands Team, and the rest was history! While she loves doing all types of hair, she absolutely adores doing lived-in color, balayage, blondes, vivid colors, and extensions! What has been the most memorable experience working thus far? “I have so many but any time I get to make a person feel beautiful about themselves is a win! When a woman has told me that I made them feel beautiful again for the first time in a while. That is the biggest compliment and achievement I have made.” Her future plans are to continue to achieve all of her goals and expand her cutting skills! We are so happy to have Madalene as a Stylist and we can’t wait to see what else she accomplishes in her flourishing career behind the chair!
